Snowfall

The world awakes in stillness
As silence fills the air
Moments pass by slowly
Entrapped in winter's lair
A blanket, falling gently
Covering the earth
Inviting morning quiet
As new day gives its birth
Green has taken refuge
Under snowfall's care
As limbs once brown and lonely
Are kissed, no longer bare
Stillness swirls about me
Elusive to my touch
Palpable, yet moving
Impossible to clutch
Wonder fills my being
But soon will melt away
Held only in my memory
As thought of winter's day
