Shadows

In the corners of my broken self
I meet my fellow man
Whose darkness led him down a path
Where fear of life began
In recesses of hidden hurt
I meet my sister's pain
Who longs for peace within the world
That's marked by hatred's stain
In movements of my shadow side
I face my sin and shame
Knowing I am quick to judge
Though I have faults to claim

In labels I gain nothing
But a temporary pride
By using words that cut and pierce
I deepen this divide
I kneel before you humbled
By the wounds that I have made
Hoping you forgive me
Though my heart, has you, betrayed
Oh help me see with eyes of love
To let your heart be known
To journey with all sinners
For we cannot walk alone
