A temporary dwelling
A pause for thought and feeling
A place for storytelling
At times it shelters sorrow
Expressed by fallen tears
Nestled deep beneath my bones
'Til fortune interferes
At times it houses happiness
A dance within my eyes
Producing songs of laughter
Sent up to heaven's skies
At times it welcomes weariness
When heart and mind are worn
And body falls to aches until
New energy is born
At times excitement enters in
Fire from head to toe
Pulsing life into my veins
That sets my heart aglow
My body is a resting place
My spirit lives inside
Accompanied by mystery
Where love and fear abide
This resting place, this holy host
Is still, not mine to keep
But yours to take when breath is gone
And life meets human sleep
