To Fear

I will not let you hold me down
No matter how you try
You store an arsenal of doubt
But faith is my ally
I see you building banks of shoulds
And formulating schemes
Of questions I can't answer now
To neutralize my dreams
Oh fear, you're good, I'll give you that
But hope and I will win
Though many times you've conquered me
This time I fight within
I've let you worry hope to death
And met your friend, regret
But I've got ties with confidence
Don't think you've met her yet
So fire all the shells you have
I've got nothing to lose
You want me to submit to you
But this time I refuse
Oh fear, you are not welcome here
I think you've pled your case
But fortitude has beaten you
So find some other place
I know you'll come around again
To knock upon my door
But next time, I won't let you in
As I have done before
For fear, although I've clung to you
I know you better now
I can't live life betrothed to you
Our time has come, so "ciao"
